little baby sweater

(in Swedish) Denna gjorde jag till lilla Arvida som föddes i slutet på april. Föräldrarna ville ha något könsneutralt i färgerna och det är jag helt för. Så det blev grönt och grönt. Har vi hört/sett det förr?!? ;-) Nåja, Arvidas mor godkände och gjorde tummen upp.

Lätt design och snabbstickad. Gjorde den i bomull, i storlek 0-6 mån, men har en känsla av att den blev större än så. Fortfarande vid drygt 3 1/2 månad är den något för stor. Men när den passar kommar en bild på Arvida i koftan.

baby sweater

Yesterday I met up with a friend for some catch up and coffee.  As always, it's fun. Before we met up I had to buy some yarn. :-) I had to buy som cotton yarn, to make a baby sweater.

Since I don't know the sex of the baby, and the parents are not fond of those baby colours (read blue and pink), I knit in green, cotton yarn from Strikkebogen. Stripes in lime green and the main colour in darker green. A spring colour sweater for a baby who will be born in April.

new things

I have finally cast on the cardigan I have eyeing forever and ever. I got most of the yarn as a birthday gift by my mother and my sister. I earlier this week I got the needles I needed - isn't strange you realize you haven't got the needle you need? I have been knitting for 5 years now and still needs to buy needles in new sizes.

 

So far everything is just a smooth knitting. Yhe yarn is very nice - Heaven's hand  wool classic from Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton.

As you may have notice I have been slightly obsessed with baking cakes/cookies lately and this week I bought two new cook books. The first it's a lovely sequel to the Sisters Eiserman's Vinterns söta - this new one is filled, yet again, with cookies and cakes. I have already tried cookies with a flavor of coconut/lime/lemon. A new favorite. Made a batch for my colleagues and they looooved it. 

The other cook book I bought was the latest from Paolo Roberto with Italian styled fastfood. Today my dinner was for this book - Spaghettini con pomodorini e mozzarella - Spaghetti with cherry tomatoes and mozzarella.

 
And this dish will be a new favorite of mine! I like the fact to have your dinner ready in less than 15 minutes! Tomorrow I will try a soup from this book!

janda, the sweater

So here it is, my first knitted sweater in over 20 years. I think I made an orange sweater back in 1985.... but here I give you, Janda - the sweater.

I have started to sew the Janda parts together.. Here is a picture with the parts pinned together... Front and back are together as one item now and I have started with the arms... And after that I need to shape the neckline. I have decided to skip the hoodie part...

This is also my last vacation week.... How fast the weeks goes when you are havning fun...

During todays Olympics I have been knitting on the Janda arms and I have reached the elbow. So far, no problems. :D Since this is almost my first sweater I'm a bit worried... But I guess thats only natural.

Now I need some food... I might need to visit my local Chinese take out around the corner..

So here are a progress report on my Olympic knitting - the Janda Hoodie. I have finished the back and the front and I have started on the arms.

I had to made neckline on the fron two times, becase I didn't read the pattern thoroughly.. But I guess that's a misstake we all do for time to time.. We think we know the pattern and just go on with out looking.. ;-) But I was not much to rip - thank god. I cast on for the booth arm at once so I will get them the same.

Can you believe it? I'm actually knitting a SWEATER....Yes, you read the word sweater!!!My first sweater since mid 80s... I have been a bit scared of knitting a whole big sweater for me, and I have one made a Vest for me, back in 2005 and the Argyle Slip-over, I made for Iris. So this is huge for me. I'm still a bit afraid of the arms, but I will take it slow and read the instructions thoroughly.

But since it's Olympic times, I needed a challenge, so I cast on for the Janda hoodie by Amy Swenson from the book Knit Wit, but you can also find it on Knitty, spring 2003.

And so far, so good - the back is done and I'm half through the front. I'm gonna make it in one colour, in a green/lime colour. I'm using Rowanspun dk, bought on sale in 2005. And I love the yarn, but sadly it's was discontinued autumn 2005.  But I have enough for another sweater in my stash. =)

The other day I got my hands on Lopi Pattern Magazine #25. Yay! The booklett with the now famous "Aftur". Some of you already seen the piece of art work Lolly made last month. It's absolutly fantastic. Check it out and swoon! I want to have that sweater, now I have the pattern and now I need to find the yarn. In this booklett you have other nice pattern too. I like the vest "Vor" very much! And the "Nu" sweater.

And today I got my hands on the latest Interweave Knits Magazine and I have one favorite in the new winter edition, the Ivy Leauge Vest.

Where you you find your new ideas and get the inspiration? I find my inspirations from blog reading, Ravelry, books and magazine's. Do you have a new favorite book to tell me about? Hey, new Knitty is out!

sweaters

I have some "big" plans for my knitting. As you know I have mostly been knitting socks, hats, scarfs, shawls and mittens. I've started on a cardigan, 2 years ago - Lucky Clover Lace Wrap from Stitch'n' Bitch Nation by Debbie Stoller. But I have never finished it. The back is finished and I have started on one of the front pieces. It was my first try on sweater and it really scared the hell out of me: It was to much to soon.  To much lace to deal with so early on. It's my oldest UFO.  I hope I will get back to it someday.

My second attempt to make a sweater was much easier and I actually finished it. I made the Everybody's vest from Hip To Knit by Judith L. Swartz in the summer of 2005 (the picture above). But now I have the itch to make an other try a sweater. But I need to start of with something easier than the lace wrap. Something in stockinette and a fast knit.

I have been drooling over a sweater many of you already have done or are making at the moment. The Hourglass Sweater from Last Minute Knitted Gift by Joelle Hoverson. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it. And I think I have found the yarn, but I haven't decided the colour yet, so I haven't bought the yarn yet. But this is one sweater I will knit in a near future. And I hope and think that this sweater will help me get over my anguish for sweater's

And I have also another vest in mind. I found it on Knit Scene, 2005. Tweedy Vest. I like it. But I need to find a tweedy yarn to match! Any ideas?
