christmas lights

It seems all northern Europe are snowed in at the moment. And we have basically the same situation here in Stockholm. Even trains has been cancelled due to all snow. I have not been outside today, I have been cuddled up in my sofa - knitting and watching dvd:s. A perfect snowy sunday. A downer is I'm starting to get unwell, maybe a cold is coming up. Just hoping it's a cold and not the flu.

I do love all the christmas decoration all around the city. Here are some of them. It brightens up the darkness this time of the year - as well as the snow does.

You can find a Christmas tree in almost every city square. The biggest, is the one on Skeppsbron - the made up tree.  They start to build this one in early November - and yes you read it right build one.

I haven't dressed my indoor plastic tree yet. My family tradition says not before the 23rd, so I just hace to wait.

When the weather is perfect, you can see warm air balloon flying over my area. Sometimes they are 6-7 of them, yesterday I only saw three - but I catched two on picture.

It looks like a calm way to travel this way, but I can guarantee you, I will NEVER ride an air balloon. Never in my life. Over my dead body! Would you?

my favorite season is here

My favorite season is the autumn, the fall, hösten! It doesn't matterif the sun is shining or if it's raining. This is my favorite time of the year. Here I give you: The autumn in my neighbourhood!

Today, in the rain!

celebrating june 6

I'm enjoying a three day weekend at the moment. We had the day off yesterday to celebrate June 6, which is our July 4th. And the weather is incredible, the temperature is still around 30 C / 80 F. And it's a dry heat, not the moist and heavy heat we have in August. I love the dry heat. But as you can see at the photo below, the grass is not so green anymore, it´t more brownish.

How did I celebrate June 6? In my neighbourhood we have a big garden party with a fun fair in the big park. Food and beer tents, coffee shops, candy shops. And lots and lots of people. I brought some pick-nick food, a blanket, a good book and a knitting project with me and walked to the park (about 5 minutes from my apartment) and spent a couple of hours enjoying the day.

The kids love this years fun fair, with lots of spinning rides. I didn't try it, the only things I can go on the this wheel or the kiddie's train... I can't take those spinning and rolling rides - I get sick..

I had a lovely day, really enjoying my June 6. It's early Saturday morning and I have two days left on the weekend. Life is sweet, isn't it?

autumn colours

I actually have the day off. Yes, yet again... I have a lot over overtime to get rid of and the best way to do that, is to take the day off. Woke up early though, 5 am, so I listen to an audio book and had some tea, and around 7 I made breakfast and watch the news.

10 am I had an appointment at my optician, for an eye check up and to look for new specs. I have been looking around for awhile to found the specs I like.. So now I can't wait to get my new specs. And then I will post some pictures of them.

After my check up I took a long walk home through the parks and enjoyd all the colours. I love the autumn season, the colours are so beautiful. And the day was perfect to wear my new coat from Indiska, bought the other day! (seen above)

I live just outside of Stockholm, in a suburb called Sundbyberg. I have lived here since 1993 and I have no plans to leave. The photo is showing the old water tower, situated on a hill, and it's famous landmark in Sundbyberg.

Sundbyberg, colloquial Sumpan, is a municipality in Stockholm County, in east central Sweden. A population of 34 000 people in an area of nine square kilometres makes Sundbyberg the most densely populated municipality, next to Stockholm.The town is a part of the Stockholm urban area. The western parts border to Stockholm City and the eastern to Solna.

Sundbyberg is the smallest municipality in Sweden by size and yet, it is nearby to green areas, lakes, parks and enchanting cafés. Modern office buildings with their fibre-optic networks, share the same area as restaurants and wooden manors from the previous century.

People have lived and worked in this area for over 2,000 years, but the present city of Sundbyberg was founded 1888.

  Five underground subway stations, long distance trains, a commuter train, buses, and a well-built roadway system makes it easy to get to and from Sundbyberg. In about 10 to 20 minutes you can get to Stockholm city, which has the country´s largest concentration of workplaces and services.

On the small streets of central Sundbyberg, there are boutiques, restaurants, a post office, banks and other important services. Central Sundbyberg is approachable by all means of transport and is the natural hub of business activity in the municipality. Cozy and gracious architecture, many outdoor meeting points, and a short walk to almost everything, gives Sundbyberg an atmosphere and charm of a modern small town.
