green on green

Found matching green colours in my alpaca- left-over-bag. Simple stockinette knitting while you are trying to get well. A shawl, of course. Stripes - 4 rows main colour, 4 rows contrasting colour. Soothing. Well known pattern. Makes me happy. Hopefully make me well enough to go to work any time soon.

So, this is how far I got this afternoon while watching 2 episodes (season one) of Foyle's War. A perfect series to knit while watching. UK, during the WWII and lots of knitted sweaters and vests worn by the actors.

new yarn

This year I have got a lots of free yarn, but I haven't stop buying yarn. ;-) When I was in Jämtland, during my new years trip I bought a lovely hank of wool. The yarn is form local sheep in Underåker, not far from the sports cottage I stayed in.

I bought this hank at the museum in Östersund, Jamtli. And this hank is going to be a shawl, someday. It's a lovely blue colour.

The weekend of 17-19 February I attend the Syfestival, a yarn festival. There I bought some danish wool, Hjelholts. These will also be shawls someday.

And a couple of weeks ago I ordered some yarn from my usual online store Garnkorgen.

I bought some Madeline Tosh lace and some Malabrigo lace and these will also be made to shawls someday.  Can I please leave the office, to go home and knit?

13 skeins of wool

This morning, a co-worker gave me a plastic bag filled with yarn. 13 skeins of Patons Jumper wool. The co-worker is curreltly cleaning her basement, and found these and had no use of it, so she thought of me.

A great start of the week.

cascade 220 in charcoal

New wool in my stash. Cascade 220 in charcoal. Bought it here. Will be a cardigan, knitted top down. I will maybe buy more in a different colour to make it stripey.. (!). There are so many colours that blend well with charcoal.

Green? Black? Blue? Yellow? Pink? Lilac? Only the time will tell. Just now I need to finish the second mitten.

Still home by the way, but for the moment I feel good, so back to work tomorrow!

spring green

As always I feel a bit blue when spring arrives. And the past weeks has also been a bit stressful at work so I needed a pick-me-up-thingy on Friday. So I bought my self some yarn. And I felt much better!

 
It's going to be a shawl - what else. The yarn is Gotlands wool, bought it at Garnverket .

my birthday

My birthday was a lovely one. I got back at work - and I actually liked it. It's nice getting back doing usual stuff. Meeting my co-workers and friends, helps a lot do to my work place a great place to be. I do love my work - most days anyway - and it felt great to be back. Even though I was dead tired when I got home later that evening.

And I got some gifts as well. My ma and my sister gave me some money - and I turned the money into yarn, yarn that will be a cardigan.. Yes, I will knit a cardigan later this autumn.. And from my fellow archivist/knitter/friend H - I got a small handmade bag to carry one of my sock projects in. Such a lovely gift. No birthday is not complete with a gift from myself! This year I bought a cook book - Vinterns söta by Lisa Eisenman Frisk and Monica Eisenman - this one is filled with necessities like truffles, fudges, cookies, cakes to make during the holiday season or winter time.

And I got so may birthday wishes on Facebook, on Ravelry, on text messages, on mail, on postcards, on phone, here on the blog and IRL. Thank You all for your wishes!

stashbusting, part 2

This is my second project in my mission to reduce my stash (so I can grow it bigger later on!). I found a single skein of Noro Iro in a blue/green colour and cast on on 9 mm needles.

A single skein is not enough for a shawl, BUT as I also had a single skein of Himalaya Yarn Tibet Wool/Silk Brand to ad on I think it´s going to be fine. I'm not using any pattern to this shawl and I just go with the flow.

... and something new in my stash

Bought some loveliness from Garnkorgen this week. The owner of this shop delivers very fast and I got it just 2 days after I'd ordered it! First we have 2 hanks of Malabrigo lace. My favorit colour as you know.

And 1 hank of Manos del Uruguay silk blend. An amazing yarn and not in green. :-)

And I have patterns in mind for these.. You just have to wait and see!

summer holiday

I'm enjoying my vacation at the moment. And it's so nice to just do nothing. I have 3 weeks off, and basically I have very little planned, and I suits me just fine. These past days I have been knitting, reading, had 2 sessions of acupuncture, met up friends for some coffee down town. My plan today? Knit, I think... The weather is a bit unstable, they have promised rain today.. 

Yesterday I picked up a yarn package at the post office.. 2 hanks of luscious merino yarn from the online store Chili Gredelin.

mariefred

It's still very rainy here, but you can't sit and mope about it, so yesterday I took a train out of the city to visit the town of Mariefred in Södermanland. Mariefred is a small town with a gigantic tourist spot - the castle of Gripsholm. I met up with my pal Jen at the train station and our first stop was the yarn store Hamiltion design, owned by Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton. And mrs Hamilton was in the store yesterday and as soon she saw me she gave 2 thumbs up for my green Birch shawl! Yay!

malabrigo paris night &  black

I bought 2 lovely hanks of Malabrigo, worsted, in two darker colours blue and black! I need these two colours as a base when knitting more hats!

After the yarn shopping we had lunch and a lot of catching up to do. It's always nice to meet Jen, but it's been awhile since our last meeting. We had a great afternoon walking around Mariefred and the castle, looking in shops, had coffee and talking.

When it started to rain - again - we made our way home to Jen in Gnesta, driving through the lovely country side, with small curches, farm houses with cows, horses, sheeps. At Jen's home I played with the boys (2 and 5 years old) while Jen and her hubby made dinner (bbq).  It was a great day and the clock was almost 11 pm before I got home.
