on the needles

There are some knitting going on here, but at the moment I have big work load at work as well, so I knit mostly during the weekends at the moment. The past weekend I had a clear schedule and the weather was absolutely stunning, so I spent most of my time on my balcony knitting, eating and drinking! It was a great way to unwind and relax!

My main knitting at the moment is the Candle Flame shawl, using alpaca yarn. The colour is one of my favorite - pale blue.

it's growing

This shawl is a keeper! And it's a easy pattern to follow. I will knit this again, in fact I have promised to knit one for a colleague and she will pay for it.

The Japanese Cherry trees in Kungsträdgården, in Stockholm, are in full bloom, at this very moment. I took this picture on Friday! It's so beautiful!

But it also means that the pollen season is here too... So far so good for me, I feel it, but has not been to sick, yet - I have my meds close with me..

irish goodies

I have been blogging since 2005 and the best thing about this blog is all the people I have "met" through blogging. Both international and domestic knitters has comment on blog posts, emailed me, comment on my photos on Flickr. Some of you are also friends on Facebook and on Ravelry. And some of you I have also met IRL - in real life.  And I hope to meet the rest of you! Perhaps you will spend your holiday in Stockholm? E-mail me, and Iwill show you the high lights in the city! Or are you going to London in September for the I Knit Weekender? Well, I will be there!

Anyway, yesterday I got a lovely package from Dublin, Ireland, filled with some Irish goodies: Tea, chocolate any yarn! The sender was the very awesome Isobel from Tea and Cakes. And I have already enjoyed a couple of cups of the brew and some of the chocolate is long gone by now (but not all of it!) Thank you, Isobel!

One of the best thing about planing a trip is to read about the area you are going to. Last week I visited my local library and borrowed two guide books about England and one about "Secret walks in London". I had hope to find a book about York and Yorkshire, but I had no such luck. The England books has chapters about York and it's surroundings, but I need a book just about York. But today I found a book about York in a map and guide store in Stockholm, so I bought it. So now I need to read and plan my days in York!!

yesterday was a fab day

Woke up early, and left the flat just after 9. Outside the sun was beaming from a flawless blue sky! And I had to spend the morning inside the Kista Fair - looking and touching yarn! Twice a year there are this handy craft fair for those who likes to sew, knit, crochet, embroid, weave and so on. I'm there for the yarn of course.

Last time, in October the fair was overcrowed, but yesterday (as long as I was there) it was ok and the first hour was very calm. Perhaps the weather made people change their plans or was it a  sign of the economic situation?

And usually you're bound to meet  fellow knitters from all over - but I didn't. Weird! But I met a  couple of co-workers,whom I didn't know would attend. Anyway, I came home with six (6!) hanks of wool, four of the where from Ullcentrum and two of those came with a pattern of  a shawl. The  last two hanks came from Wålstedt and will problebly be a scarf.

I came home just after noon, and cleared the balcony and enjoyed a coffee break in the sun, and later I hung the wet laundry at the balcony (the first of the year) and a couple of hours later, it was all dry and could be put away in the drawers. A perfect day!

Today it seems to be cloudy...

visby

Yesterday morning I left my flat early to take a bus to my nearest the airport, Bromma.  About an hour later I arrived, with two colleagues, at Visby airport. A crisp and absoultly blue sky welcomed us to the island of Gotland.

The Archive and the Library wanted to show our service to our colleauges in Visby, and show them we have a service to them despite the distans to the record hall and the book shelves. And it was a joy to meet up with our colleauges in Visby!

I talked about the Archive service we have. We are more the happy to scan or copy at their command. I told them about our online services: the photo database KMB and to our blueprint database and to our catalouge over our records. (And by the way - have you seen this ? I was not involved in this, but some of my colleauges!)

We were busy the whole day, but we had a chance to stroll through Visby and before we took the cab  to the airport we had a great dinner at Bakfickan. A lovely day!
