When I began to plan for my London trip, Claire asked me what I wanted to see and told me they had a car and and Ian didn't mind driving. Basiclly we could drive in any direction and there was something I wanted to see and wanted to visit. Oxford, Cambridge, Cotswold, Salisbury, Stonehenge, Britghton. But for months I have been looking through some Canterbury/Kent folders I picked up at the British Tourist Board last summer. So, we drove south, down to Canterbury last Saturday.
Canterbury architecture.
And it was another spectacular sunny day! A fantastic blue sky! The Car ride took about an hour.
And Canterbury is a picture perfect britsh small town, with some tudor buildings and an medieval cathedral in the center of the town. A historic old town.
You can have a city walk with Geoffrey Chaucer and The Canterbury Tales. But we walked around by ourself. It's a nice town.
The Canterbury cathedral is one of the oldest and most famous Christian structures in England. And it's a beautiful cathedral.
Canterbury cathedral.
The cathedral is part of the Canterbury World Heritage Site - which include the cathedral, the ruins of St Augustine's Abbey and St Martins Church.
The ruins of St Augustine's Abbey.
After Canterbury we drove to Whitstable . A small seaside town in northeast Kent. It is 8 kilometres (5 miles) north of the city of Canterbury and it's really worth a visit if you are nearby. You can reach the town by train from London. And there are yarn store's in this town. They where closed when we walked by but looked really nice.
Whitestable, Thames estaury.
So, there was my London trip! I had a great time and Clarie and Ian was really great guides and great hosts! Thank you, for a great weekend!
