I have tried something new today. I have dyed my own yarn today, using the Kool-aid method.
I followed the guide on knitty.com. I got lots of Kool-aid packages from Laura and Rae last year and finally got the time to try it. And it was lots of fun and very, very easy! I had 14 packages of Black Cherry Kool-aid, 190 grams of undyed wool, water and a big pot.
I used the stovetop method. I emptied my packages of drink mix into my pot with some water. I stired to dissolve and then I added my yarn and enough water to cover it. And after that I heated the yarn-filled pot to nearly boiling. Turned it off and let it sit, covered, for at least an hour, stirring a few times. Now I have 190 grams of red/pinkish wool drying in my bathroom.
I will do this again and I have more Kool-aid in my cupboard! Pictures of the final result is coming later!

PS: Kool-aid is an American soft drink mix. Hard to find in Sweden.
It looks like you are keeping pretty busy while being housebound. Hope you are feeling better! The yarn looks great!

Oh boy. I haven't dyed since before I started studying for my exam. I may have to do it again soon! It's addictively fun!
You let me know if you need more kool-aid. I would be delighted to be your supplier. :)

Men, hur funkar det, det far inte bort om man tvättar garnet? Funkar det verkligen på ylle? Finns det i fler färger än rött?
