I spent yesterday in the little town of Gnesta - 1 h 10 minutes with the commuter train - south of Stockholm. Visiting Jen and her boy, 3 yr old Albin. It was freezing cold day with a clear sky, so we were mostly indoors talking, eating and playing. It was really fun! I hadn't seen her for a while, so it was niced to catch up. Jen is a former co-worker so we gossiped about our co-workers (in a nice way of course!). And the fact the Jen is pregnant again was also a subject to talk about - she has 6 month's to go.

It was freezing cold yesterday - but not today... The rain is pouring down at the moment and it's windy too, so my walk to the supermarket was not a pleasure one.. I hate this weather!! I'd hope for a frosty new years eve, but I guess it will be like this.. But, besides that, I wish that You have a really Happy New Year! And that I'll see you next year too.

On Christmas I need to see something romantic on film. I went to the movies and I saw The Holiday the other day. A typical chick flick, for the holiday season. And Hello, Jude Law! Well, mr Law has not been one of my favorites, he's a god actor but I have never liked his look. To boyish and to pretty - not my type anyway. I don't know what's changed my mind in this movie. Perhaps it was Soph and Olivia? If you haven't seen the movie and want to I will not say more! On film you always got snow on Christmas in England. And we don't have any snow in the real world of Stockholm, so it was nice to get "snow" in the movie. But I wanted more of the L.A story, I love Kate Winslet and I think Jack Black is hilarious.

This film was, OK - nothing more, nothing less. You know how this things ends. But sometimes that all you need.

breakfast

Time flies you know. 13 years ago today a sweet little girl was born. And I meet her for the first time when she was only a couple of hours old. And now she a teenager, miss Sophia.  Happy Birthday!

I'm about to finish my looong breakfast, I have been sitting here for almost 2 hours now. In my opinion the best when you have a day off, is having a long breakie, reading the newspaper, listen to music - at the moment Dixie Chicks  CD Taking the Long Way - sipping my favorite tea - Sir Williams, from my favorite tea store Sibyllans kaffe och tehandel (they have been in business since 1916 ).  But now the tea pot is almost empty (and cold), so I guess I need to do something else.

My next move is to clean up the kitchen. I really need to do something about the mess.

a new camera

So, I went to the camera repair man today. (Actually he was a she, so it was a repair woman!) And I was right: It costs more to mend the camera than buy a new one. So I bought a new one today, on sale at Elgiganten. An Olympus X-760. So this is the first picture with my new camera. So I guess it will take a couple of days to get used to this one.

I started a new shawl the other night, while watching the second of the Lord of the Ring movies. The yarn for this shawl is a Swedish one, wool from Färgkraft, a blue-ish shade and it's absolutly fantastic. I love it! (It's the same you got from me Laura, but a diffrent shade.) And blue has always been a colour that I love.

Well, it's time for my beauty sleep now!

boxing day

I lost one of my dearest items. My camera is broken - i'm a bit sad about that. I had it for 1 1/2 year. Shouldn't a camera live longer than that?!? So is it worth to mend it or is it cheaper to buy a new one? I'm thinking of the last one. It broke down december 23 so I have no picture's from my Christmas celebration to show you. I have just a bad picture from my camera phone.. Showing me infront of my tree.

Both my mother and my sister liked their knitted gift from me. My mother got those stripy Jaywalkers and my sister got those Forsa mittens. ACE got a pair of Raggsocks from me. And I can't show you the gifts to the Svedlund family yet. You have to wait a bit longer.

My plans for today? Well, absolutly nothing! Just relax and read a book. A friend of friend was in New York the week before Christmas and she bought two books for me - Maggie Seftons Needled to Death  and A Deadly Yarn! Knitting mysteries! So fun to read!

So finally, it's the morning of the Christmas eve, and Santa has brought me a present. A Percolator, to make really good coffee for me. Thanks Santa! ;-) And I have just tasted my first cup - mmmmm - delicious!

it's christmas time

Do you feel the Christmas spirit? It has been a realaxing day for me. I have bought all the food, the presents are wraped, I have started to make the Chrsitmas meal. I have been knitting, reading books, taking a long bath. Christmas is here, and it's time to relax.

It has been a week filled with a lot of space reports on TV, radio and all the newspapers. Sweden has space fever at the moment. Sweden has finally an astronaut in space, Christer Fuglesang is with Discovery in orbit, and tonight the adventure ends for this time. The landing is schedule tonight, and you can follow the landing live on Swedish TV. It's a bit interesting, and I guess I'll watch it, while knitting on my Simple Stripe Fair Isle Sock. And so far I had no problems with it. The chart is easy to follow and I like how the yarn is knitted up.

I have bought a Christmas present to myself today :-). I got a payrise the other day, so I celebrated with a gift to me. It's something I have been looking at for a while, and it has nothing to do with knitting. You have it in your kitchen. I know "Santa" will put this gift in my stocking, so I can open it and use it on the morning of Christmas eve.

I will now continue cleaning my apartment!

My Christmas holiday has begun! Woo hoo! And I feel much better tonight than yesterday, but perhaps it just the holiday who makes me feel better.

We had a small Christmas gettogether at work this afternoon. With typical Swedish glögg - the scandinavian way of mulled wine- saffron buns and gingerbread. Very delicious! And it was as always nice to meet you co-workers over a "fika". Fika - a very Swedish word for drinking coffee/tea/ - the beverage of non alcoholic- with or without a cake. A coffee break!

My plans for tomorrow? I have to do my laundry but after that I will go in to the city to do some Christmas shopping for me. I need to buy some groceries for the weekend. And I need to buy some tea at my favorite tea shop. And I need to buy some marzipan for me... And than I need to clean my kitchen, and start to cook some Christmas meals.

This will be a short note: The snow is (almost) gone, I have one day left to work and I'm starting to feeling sick.. I have a cold and I sneeze all the time..I hoping for the best..

I've got some Christmas presents by mail today! And I will put those under the Christmas tree.

Now I need some sleep!
